「町田市議会、相模原市議会の取り組み」

2020年11月19日（木）、第116回例会がホテルラポール千寿閣で開催され、町田と相模原、両市の市議会議長による講演会が開催されました。
偶然にも町田市議会議長の熊沢あやり氏と、相模原市議会議長の石川将誠氏は玉川学園の同級生。そして現在は、それぞれのお子さんもクラスメートだというエピソードにも触れた熊沢氏は、今年、市議会議長に就任。しかし、2月後半頃からの新型コロナの急速な蔓延で不安がつのる中、議長としての予定は悉くキャンセルになり、波乱のスタートでした。先の見えない状況下で議長として議会をまとめあげ、町田市議会が家賃補助やRCPセンター開設などの対策を他自治体に先駆けて速やかに実施できたことや、災害対策などの取り組みについても分かりやすく説明されました。一方、石川議長は、国内初の感染者であるエリザベスプリンセス号での感染者を市内の病院で受け入れ、国内初の死者も相模原の病院で出たことなど、国内でもっとも早い時期から新型コロナの最前線で数々の対策に当たって来られました。国のGIGAスクール構想を受け、全児童生徒に1人1台のタブレット年度内配布を初めとする感染拡大下での教育施策、安定のキャパシティを誇る検査体制など市の感染症対策を具体的に説明。また、昨秋の令和元年東日本台風の対応、そして最後には広域交流拠点の整備、リニアの開業を見据えたスーパー・メガリージョンにも触れ、会員からは多摩都市モノレールの誘致の話も飛び出しました。
